The docket

From the first problem to what changed

Four entries, in the order they happened, written from the practice's own record of the work.

  1. Starting point

Information about tax appointment intake had been copied across several pages over the years. Nobody could say with confidence which copy was current.

  2. The problem

For tax appointment intake, every correction triggered a search for the other copies. Some were always missed, and the contradictions regenerated.

  3. What we built

One page is now the maintained source for appointment preparation and the secure document process, with duplicates retired or redirected. The handover records who owns it, when it is next reviewed and which pages any change will touch.

  4. What changed

Day to day with tax appointment intake, updates are made once and verified everywhere they echo. Visitors stop meeting conflicting versions of the same fact.

What went into it

The parts of the build

As the practice listed them, then the TaxFirmWebStudio features they come from, on every plan.

I had stopped trusting our own tax appointment intake pages because there were too many versions. Now we know where the approved wording lives.

Questions about this case

How long did this work take?

10 working days after content approval, including staff review and handover. The practice approved its own wording before anything was published.

Which plan covers this kind of work?

Every plan. The parts of the build this case used (weekly updates for the details that change every season; moving your current site, with every link redirected) are included on The Front Desk, The Busy Season, The Year-Round Practice.

Did this change anything about the practice's tax work?

No. This was website work: how the site explains the practice and how an inquiry reaches the right person. We are not a tax preparation, tax resolution or accounting firm, and the pages were worded so they never promise a tax outcome. Anything specific to a client's situation stays in a conversation with the practice.

Why is the practice not named?

Case studies on this site describe the kind of practice, its region and its size, never the business name, its logo or its web address. The person quoted agreed to be named with their role.

Want the same fix on your site?

A live walk-through of the site your practice would get, in about 30 minutes. Plans from $137 a month, the $797 build fee invoiced only after launch, domain and hosting included.

We build and manage the website. We are not a tax preparation, tax resolution or accounting firm, and nothing on this page is tax advice.
